Lucille Jennings
Mrs. Lucille Jennings, 88, of Lockhart, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 8, 2006, at Seton Edgar B. Davis Hospital in Luling. She was born on March 13, 1918, in Caldwell County, to Horace and Mary (Giles) Manning.
Lucille was married to James Jennings on July 7, 1943, in Lockhart. She worked for many years as a housekeeper. She dedicated her life to Christ at an early age, an
d as a member of the Saint James AME Church, she served as President of the Women”s Missionary Society and was a member of the Heritage of Jericho. She was a loving mother.
Lucille was preceded in death by her parents, Horace and Mary Manning; by her husband, James Jennings; and by two brothers, Clarence Moore and Roy Manning.
She leaves to cherish her loving memory Victor and Jodie McKinney, Mary Giles, Clarence and Nicole McKinney, her sister-in-law, Cassie Manning of San Antonio, and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 12, 2006, at the Saint James AME Church with Rev. Otha Edison officiating. Lucille was laid to rest beside her late husband, James Jennings, in the Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio on Monday, Aug. 14, 2006. Pallbearers were Gregory Haynes, Homer Shaw, Harold Brawley, Ottis Hillard, Clemon Wilson and Junior Brawley. Honorary pallbearers were members of the Heritage of Jericho.
