Carlos Urrutia, Sr.
Carlos Phillip Urrutia, Sr., 50, of Las Cruces, NM and formerly of Lockhart, passed away on Monday, March 2, 2015.
Carlos was born to Valentin Urrutia and Felipa Limas Villarreal, on Oct. 6, 1964, in Lockhart. Carlos is preceded in death by his father Valentin Urrutia and Step-father, Luis Villarreal. He was also preceded in death by maternal grandparents,
Felipe and Juana Limas, and paternal grandparents, Juan and Rosa Urrutia.
Carlos was born and raised in Lockhart, Texas. He attended and graduated from Lockhart High School. He enjoyed spending time with his family, cooking meals for them, and going camping .He had a special love for the ocean, and made several fishing trips every year to Port Aransas. Carlos was gifted with many special talents, but his favorite was his craftsmanship with wood. When Carlos became ill and could no longer work, he dedicated his time making chairs for his grandkids, cartoon characters, wall clocks, wishing wells, among other wood crafts, which he would humbly give as gifts to his family. The family will always cherish these pieces of work that Carlos made with his beautiful hands. Carlos leaves us with so many special and beautiful memories because of his great love for his family and friends. He was a beloved son, husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend.
Carlos is survived by his wife Irma Otero-Urrutia, of Las Cruces; mother, Felipa Villarreal of Lockhart; sons, Carlos Phillip Urrutia, Jr., (Victoria) and Daniel Urrutia (Yasmine), of Lockhart; daughters, Ashley Urrutia (Mateo) and Victoria Wilhelm (Alfred), all of Lockhart; stepsons, Lorenzo Reyes (Rebecca), Michael Reyes and Juan Carlos Reyes, all of Las Cruces, NM; grandchildren: Liliana, Aiyana, Jaylen, Noah, Kaylin, Jeremiah, and Angelina; step-grandchildren: Tommy Luciano, Anthony Capone, Dominic Martin, Viviana Elizabeth, Jordyn Alyssa, Hector and Isabella; sister, Rosalinda Urrutia (Mario), of Lockhart; Brothers: Valentin Urrutia, Jr., (Terri), of San Marcos, and James Urrutia (Tish), of Kyle; stepsister Crystal Flores (Fernando), of Maxwell; and step-brother, Luis R. Villarreal, of San Marcos. He is also survived by six nephew, 11 nieces, four uncles, four aunts and a host cousins.
Services will be held on Sunday, March 29 at St. Mary”s Catholic Church in Lockhart. A celebration Mass will be officiated by Father Ed Karasek at 2:30 p.m. and burial following immediately at St. Mary’s Cemetery.
