Leonard Mooneyham


Leonard Wesley Mooneyham, 90, died March 12, 2015, in Lockhart, Texas. His final days were spent surrounded by the many family members and friends whose lives “Mooney” had touched during his memorable life.

Leonard was born on Feb. 26, 1925 in Black Oak, Arkansas to Wes Mooneyham and Sylvia Fisher. He was raised and schooled in northern Oklahoma until joining Navy in 194

2. He served aboard a destroyer throughout World War II and was called back from the reserves to fight again during the Korean War.

Leonard had a long and successful career as an instruments engineer for Fluor, Litwin, and his own company. He and his wife Faye traveled and lived in many places around the country and globe. In the mid 1970’s, they settled in McMahan, Texas and upon Leonard’s retirement, moved to the coast at Indianola to fish and relax.

Leonard was preceded in death by his loving wife, Francis Faye Mooneyham, and his son Mark Dewayn Mooneyham. He is survived by his children and their spouses, Wesley Ray Mooneyham, of St. Augustine, Deborah Theriot Rawlinson, of Delhi, Robert and Velma Mooneyham, of San Antonio, and Edward and Andrea Theriot, of Lockhart. He had seven grandchildren: Jason Mooneyham, Cody Rawlinson, John Mooneyham, Matt Mooneyham, Heather Mooneyham, Mariah Molina, and Joseph Theriot, and five great-grandchildren: Mark Mooneyham, Amanda Rawlinson, Michael Mooneyham, Madilyn Mooneyham, and Kaylen Dorsett.

He is also survived by one brother, Jim Mooneyham of Jonesboro, Ark., and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.

A visitation was held from 5 – 7 p.m. on Sunday, March 15, 2015, at Eeds Funeral Home with family and friends in attendance.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Monday, March 16 at the Delhi Baptist Church with Deacon Jay Creighton officiating. Serving as the pallbearers were: Jason Mooneyham, Joey Theriot, John Mooneyham, Danny Molena, Cody Rawlinson and Matt Mooneyham. Burial followed at the Delhi Cemetery, Delhi, Texas.All arrangements with Eeds Funeral Home, 408 S. Main St., Lockhart, Texas. (512) 398-2343.
