Two-time District Champion Shanice Manning rose to the head of the pack once again, earning second place in Area in both the 200-meter run and the 100-meter run. She will compete for Regional Championships in those events over the weekend.

Cristal Trejo also earned a silver medal, completing the 1,600-meter run 5:28.54. This marks Trejo’s second appearance at the Regional meet in the 1,600. She also qualified for the State Meet in Cross Country last fall.

Hurler Alexandra Howard is also on her way back to a championship, having earned bronze in the discus (102’8”) and fourth in the Shot Put (35’1.75”).

The top four places in each area qualify for the Regional meet. Field events and preliminaries will take place on Friday, and the finals, as well as the distance races, are scheduled on Saturday.

For the Lions, Tarius Dawson was a leader, taking second in the 110-meter hurdles (15.48) to earn his bid to Regionals. Additionally, as a member of the 4×200-meter Relay Team with Isjalea Greene, DJ Ellison and Fernando Castillo, Dawson took home a bronze medal (1:29.93) and a team trip to Regionals.

Castillo also earned third in the 200-meter run (22.72) to secure his spot at Regionals.

The final Regional Qualifier is Chris Hernandez, who earned fourth in both the Long Jump (20’7.5”) and the Triple Jump (42’8.25”).

Though they did not qualify for Regionals, Green took sixth place in the 100-meter run (11.65) and Hernandez placed sixth in the 400-meter run (53.70) to earn team points for the Lions.

Alamo Stadium is located at 760 Stadium Dr., just off Highway 281 near the University of Incarnate Word in Central San Antonio.
