Olan Thompson, Jr.
During the quietness and stillness of the evening on Tuesday, Sept. 12, 2006, Olan Thompson, Jr. slipped away peacefully into the arms of Our Lord and Savior.
Olan, Jr. was the third child of six children born to the union of Annie Mae (Wells) Thompson and Olan T. Thompson, in Dale, Texas on Feb. 2, 1948. At a very early age, Olan, Jr. professed his faith in God. His
formal education began at the Carver Elementary and Carver Schools and he graduated from Lockhart High School in May, 1966. He attended Blinn Junior College in Brenham, Texas, and went on to further his education at West Texas State University (which now is presently known as West Texas A & M University).
Olan, Jr. was preceded in death by his father, Olan Thompson, and his niece, Serena Dawn Thompson.
Olan, Jr. leaves to cherish his memories and is survived by his loving mother, Mrs. Annie M. (Wells) Thompson; two brothers and three sisters: Tommie and his wife, Essie L. Thompson; Ola and her husband, Reed E. Orr; James D. and his wife, Dorothy O. Thompson; Linda Thompson-Bennett; Wilma and her husband, Charles Duncan. He also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
A visitation was held at the Eeds Funeral Home Chapel on Thursday, Sept. 14, 2006 from 3 – 5 p.m. for family and friends. Funeral services were held on Friday, Sept. 15, 2006 at 11 a.m. at the Eeds Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Foster Roberts officiating. Interment followed immediately at the Hooks Cemetery in Lockhart, Texas.
