Verna Mae Mooney

Verna Mae Mooney, of Luling, passed away on Sept. 12, 2015, in Luling, Texas, at the age of 80.

Mrs. Mooney was born on Jan. 19, 1935, in Luling, Texas, to James Edward Goates and Annie Bell Baker.

She married William Washington Mooney on Sept. 21, 1957, and they enjoyed that marriage until his death in 2007.

She was active in the Central Baptist Church and the Clearfo

rk Baptist Church, while enjoying her life as a mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and homemaker.

Mrs. Mooney was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one grandson, Jerrett Brewer; and one brother, Henry Goates.

She is survived by her daughter, Twila Schulze, of Lockhart; her daughter, Lisa Brewer, of Luling; and her daughter Rose Mary, and husband, Thomas Heller, of Luling; her son, Gary Mooney, of Luling; her grandchildren: Michael Schulze, D’Lacy Watts, Zachary Brewer, Jake Brewer, Corbet Brewer, Samantha Brewer, Paige Heller, Christi Quaranto and Pamela Mooney; and 10 great-grandchildren.

She is also survived by her sister, Mary Edwards, of Luling.

Services were held on Sept. 15, 2015, at 10 a.m. at O’Bannon Funeral Home, with Brother Bill “Scotty” Grant officiating. Burial followed at the Luling Cemetery. Honored to serve as pallbearers were Michael Schulze, Jae Brewer, Corbet Brewer, Zachary Brewer, Michael Johnson and Shane Watts.
