Lou Pittman

Loucretia “Lou” Nelson Pittman passed through Heaven’s gate into Paradise on Sunday, February 14, 2016.  She made it just in time to celebrate Valentine’s Day with her husband of 53 years, in the presence of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.  She was surrounded and comforted by family throughout her last days.  Lou was born on June 12, 1933, in Russell, Okla., to Es

sie Louise Page and Otis Mansfield Nelson.  She was preceded in death by her mother, Louise Kelso; her father, Otis Nelson; her husband, Lonnie Eugene Pittman; and her sister, Frances Nelson Simon.
Lou’s gift to the world was her loving and welcoming spirit.  She truly never met a stranger.  Every time we entered a restaurant or any place where lots of people were gathered, Lou would scan the room and would seem to always find somebody she knew.  Lou was an entrepreneur with her husband.  They were in the grocery business for 25 years and the clothing business for 27 years.  In between the two business ventures she served as a secretary at Central Soya.  They enjoyed life together participating in many civic related activities.  She supported her husband’s service in World War II by participating in the American Legion.  She was an avid bridge player and donated many hours to serving the community by sewing Christmas stockings for the Shriner’s burn unit.  She was an active member of the Daughter’s of the Nile and the First Lockhart Baptist Church.
Lou is survived by her brother, Mike Nelson and wife, Kay; her three children: daughter, Roxy Fogle and husband, Bobby, daughter, Nancy Fogle and husband, Billy, and son, Lonnie “Chip” Pittman and wife, Amy. She left behind seven grandchildren: Jeffrey Fogle and wife, Jenna, Lindsey Fogle, Brittany Fogle Bading and husband, Clint, Dusty Pittman and wife, Sarah, Michael Pittman, Brooks Pittman and Emily Pittman; and one great-grandchild, Jace Fogle.
Visitation was held on Tuesday, Feb. 16, 2016, at McCurdy Funeral Home, from 5 – 7:30 p.m. Funeral Services were scheduled Wednesday, Feb. 17, 2016, at McCurdy Memorial Chapel, at 2 p.m., with  Rev. Gary Rodgers, Nic Burleson and Rob Clopton officiating.  Interment to follow at the Lockhart City Cemetery.
The family would like to extend special thanks to Dr. Charles and Cheryl Laurence and staff. They would also like to thank her many friends and neighbors for all of their prayers and support.
