Arthur A. Velasquez
Arthur A. Velasquez, 83, of North Aurora, Illinois, passed away Saturday, January 27, 2018, at Presence Mercy Medical Center. He was born December 30, 1934 in Lockhart, Texas. Arthur was a member of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and was president of the Aurora chapter of LULAC. He was very active in local politics and with the Children’s Education Advocate.
He is survived by his children: Patty, Valerie, April, Art, and Crystal; his grandchildren: Dorothy Ann “Dodi” (Jim) McNamara, Jeremy (Valerie), Christopher, Marcus (Ayla), Jackie, Mike (Beth), Jeff, Amber (Mark) Catipon, Autumn, Anthony (Kate), Tyler, Sean (Tammy); his great-grandchildren: Veronica, Victoria, Mya, Liam, Camden, Saylor, Jack, Will, Brenna and Jade; his sisters, Margaret “Margie” Hernandez, Mary Eva Wilhelm and Josie Gaitan Ybarra; and numerous nieces And nephews.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Alice Velasquez in 1997; his son, Timothy Mark; his parents, Arthur and Olivia (Partida) Velasquez; and his sister, Dorothy Ann.
Recitation of the Holy Rosary was at 7 PM Friday, February 2, 2018 at St. Mary of the Visitation Catholic Church. Funeral Mass was celebrated at 10 AM Saturday, February 3, 2018, also at St. Mary the visitation Catholic Church. Burial followed in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
