Tommy Glenn Lunday


Tommy Glenn Lunday, age 66, formerly of Bastrop County went home to be with his Lord and Savior on February 3, 2018 in the wee hours of the morning. Tommy was a friend, brother, uncle, husband, father, grandpa and great-grandpa. He never knew a stranger.
Tommy was born on June 6, 1951 to Charles Alec “Bubba” Lunday and Elsie Genelle “Nell”(Osborne) Lunday at the Bastrop Hospital. He graduated from Prairie Lea High School. On October 25, 1975 he married Alma Rose (Schumann) Lunday the love of his life in Orchard, Texas. Raymond Schumann introduced the love birds. Tommy worked as a truck driver before joining Bastrop County as a road hand and material hauler. He drove many miles with loads upon loads to deliver. In his retirement years he enjoyed watching his grandchildren, wrestling, football and westerns with T.J Hemphill. There was always a joke to be told.
Survivors include his wife Alma; his two daughters Janice Rodriguez (Sam Rodriguez) and Linda Lunday both of Lockhar; Eleven grandchildren: E.J. Perry (Jocelyn Duran), Briana, Katrina, Chelsea, Samantha, Marissa, Serena, Leandra, Ariana, Alayna, and Isaiah Rodriguez; and two great-grandchildren; Elimiah Perry and Nathan Reyna; each of Lockhart, Texas; brother Charlie Lunday (Ann Pounds Lunday) of Cedar Creek, Texas, and many nieces and nephews: Phillip and Micheal Lunday; Darryl Schumann (Jamie Avirette Schumann) Clinton Schumann (Marla Laslie Schumann) and Kelli (Schumann) Horak (Kevin Horak) of Needville; and one sister-in-law Corrine (Schultz) Schumann.
He was preceded in death by his parents Charles Bubba and Elsie Genelle “Nell” his brother Jerry Lunday, and his daughter Angelia “Angie” Genelle Lunday. A celebration of Life service will be held on March 17, 2018 at Bateman Baptist Church at 2 pm at the location of 2691 FM 20 Red Rock, Texas 78662. Those who so desire may make memorial donations in memory of Tommy to the Bateman Baptist Church Youth Fund.
