A Lockhart man has been charged with murder after being arrested Saturday night in the death of his mother-in-law.
Police arrested Ruperto Gonzales, 52, of Lockhart after responding to a call reporting a threat against a family member made by another family member at the residence at 11:30 p.m. Saturday, according to a statement issued by Captain John Roescher with the Lockhart Police Department.
When officers arrived at the residence in the 800 block of N. Commerce Street, they found Edna Juarez, 62, of Lockhart in a back bedroom with multiple stab wounds, according to reports.
Juarez was transported to Seton Medical Center in Kyle where she was pronounced dead, police said. Gonzales was arrested at the residence and charged with murder, according to reports.
“The weapon, a knife, was recovered at the scene,” Roescher said.
Police said Juarez was Gonzales’s son-in-law, and that Gonzales’s sister-in-law had made the original call reporting the threat to police.
According to police, Gonzales lived at the home with his wife, mother-in-law and sister-in-law.
