City prepares to annex 651 acres, including Lockhart State Park

The Edwards Aquifer Authority is seeking qualified applicants interested in filling a vacancy for the District 11 seat on its board of directors. The office, vacated by W. Bailey Barton when he resigned the elected position earlier this month, represents an area that covers the eastern part of Hays County and the western part of Caldwell County on the Authority”s 17-member

board of directors.
The Authority”s board will appoint an individual to serve a portion of the unexpired term, through Dec. 1, 2008, at which time the next general election will be held. Anyone interested in being considered, can obtain an application online at www.edwardsaquifer.org or in person at the Authority”s office located at 1615 N. St. Mary”s Street in San Antonio. Completed and signed applications must be received by the Authority by 4:30 p.m. on Aug. 20, 2007, in order to be considered.
Candidates for the position must: be a U.S. citizen, be a registered voter, be 18 years of age or older, not have been determined mentally incompetent by a final judgment of a court, not have been convicted of a felony, not be a member of a governing body of another political subdivision, and satisfy all other eligibility requirements for the office as prescribed by law.
