Helen Lindemann

Born Helen Estelle Andrus on Feb. 21, 1921 in Point Breeze,Texas, Helen died at home on July 27,2007. She was buried in Delhi, Texas, on July 31 beside her twin sister, Juanita Hunter, and her mother, Mary Hay.
Helen grew up in Weatherford, Ft. Worth, Abilene, and Houston. She and her sister and brother took the name of Mount from their beloved stepfather.
Her ma

rriage to Milton Higgins brought daughters Sandra and Carla. Another daughter died shortly after birth.
The family moved from Barker, Texas to a farm outside McMahan in 1948, then later to outside of Lockhart, where Helen with her assistant Elizabeth Wales led Carla”s Girl Scout Troop.
The marriage ended in divorce in 1954. Helen subsequently worked several years for the Dallas Morning News before moving to Los Angeles, where she was employed with United Airlines. There, she met and later married Charles Lindemann.
The couple lived in Germany in the 1960″s, and traveled in several European countries. They bought a farm between Waelder and Moulton in 1971.
It was here that Charles cared for Helen until her death, with the help of her beloved aide, Jean Swazoe and Helen”s daughters. The family also wishes to thank Marcia Patek.
Helen and her sister Juanita trained in voice and dance as children, appearing in talent shows and on radio. Their mother hoped they would follow in the footsteps of their cousin, Mary Martin.
Though they did not make careers of their musical talent, they sang in church, and later delighted their young children with spontaneous song and dance and their lively sense of humor.
Family and friends will remember Helen”s wit and charm. An avowed loner in her later years, she would surprise the occasional guest with unexpected graciousness.
Helen completed high school by correspondence and became proficient in piano as an adult. She raised registered Cocker Spaniels, embroidered her young daughters” pinafores, crocheted afghans, and designed and constructed ballet costumes and formal evening dresses for her daughters.
Her favorite hobby was reading: poetry, psychology, aviation, medicine, all of her set of The Great Books, countless other works of fiction, and many theological writers. Bishop Sheen was a favorite.
Helen felt the crowning achievement of her life was Baptism into the Pope Pius X Society of the Catholic Church at age 2.
Pallbearers were Julius Simper, Manny Cao, Robert Durling, Ward Gordon, Gary Nelson, and Jim Moreno. Honorary pallbearers were John Lindemann, Kenward Kolar, James Owens, Jason Owens, Bob Clements and George Schneldecker.
Helen was preceded in death by her infant daughter; sister Juanita Hunter, LVN; brother Robert Mount, M.D; mother Mary Hay; stepfather Ray; nephew Gary Clements; and niece Mary Lynn Schleinshok.
In addition to her husband and daughters, the following grieve her passing: stepdaughter, Linda Lindemann Chapman; grandchildren: Holly Gordon, Ward Gordon, Cassia Gordon, Sherry Nelson, Gary Nelson, Cristen Woods Coyne, and Gretchen Woods Roberts; great-grandchildren: Gabriela Gordon Martinez, Katherine Gordon, Tonya Keene, Johnathan White, Austin White, Garrett Nelson, Stephanie Nelson, Caden Nelson, Ryan Burns, Mick Coyne, Emily Roberts and Jackson Roberts; one great-great-granddaughter, Keelin Keene; nieces: Linda Owens, Barbara Mount, Susan Mount Schneldecker, Mary Mount, Laurie Mount, Mary Jo Schleinshok; and nephews: Bob Clements and Mike Mount.
