Charles A. Nichols
Charles A. Nichols of Corpus Christi passed away on March 9, 2008, after suffering a severe stroke.
Charlie was born in Maxwell, Texas, on March 27, 1925. He graduated from Lockhart High School and attended Texas A&M University. When World War II started, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and served in the Pacific and in the battle of Guam.
After
his return from the war, he married Bessie Mae Lipscomb, and they have been married for 60 years. He then went to the University of Texas and graduated from the pharmacy school.
Charlie and Bess moved to Corpus Christi and opened Nichols Pharmacy, continuing to operate it until his stroke. Charlie was also very active in his church life, in political and in civic affairs.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Dr. and Mrs. Cranz Nichols; brothers, Cronz, Billy, Marvin and Bobby; and sisters, Marjorie and Dorothy.
He is survived by his loving wife, Bess; son, Bobby; daughter, Deborah; brother, Jack; sister, Betty Bowers; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
The family is planning a private memorial service in Corpus Christi.
