Mr. Ernest G. Hurtado, Sr., 77, of Maxwell, was called Home by our Heavenly Father on Thursday, Dec. 23. Recitation of the rosary was Sunday at 7 p.m. at the DeLeon Funeral Home. Funeral Mass was celebrated Monday at 10 a.m. at St. Mary”s Catholic Church in Lockhart. Burial followed at Memory Lawn Memorial Park in Martindale.

urtado was preceded in death by his parents, Macario and Isabel Hurtado, brothers, Julio and Mike Hurtado, sisters, Olivia Castaneda, Consuelo Duran, and Ines Tapia.
He is survived by his wife, and life long love, Dora T. Hurtado, of Maxwell, children, Rachel Cisneros of San Antonio; Delia Soto and husband, Eduardo; Ernest Hurtado, Jr. and wife, Martha; Mary Garcia, and husband, George, all of San Marcos; Maggie Vijarro and husband, Jay of Maxwell; grandchildren, Peter Guerrero of Dallas; Jonathan Selvera, Stephanie Garcia, Minnie Hurtado, Saundra Polanco and husband, Jason, all of San Marcos; Lawrence Cisneros, Nicole Cisneros, both of San Antonio; Ernie Hurtado of San Marcos; Abraham Almaraz of San Antonio; great-granddaughter, Arianna Elizabeth Polanco of San Marcos; sisters, Lily Mendoza, and Lola DeLeon; and brother, Arturo Hurtado, all of San Marcos. Mr. Hurtado is also survived by numerous nephews, nieces and cousins.
Mr. Hurtado proudly served his country as a Corporal in the U.S. Marine Corps. He also served as the current treasurer of the Woodmen of the World Lodge 2449, and was a member of Woodmen for over 25 years, from where he retired as area manager.
