Rudolph “Rudy” Scharschmidt
Rudolph “Rudy” Scharschmidt, 78, of New Braunfels, formerly of Lockhart, passed away on Dec. 28. He was born on Dec. 18, 1926 in Sealy, Texas to Rudolph M. Scharschmidt and Pearl Freudensprung Scharschmidt.
He was preceded in death by her parents and is survived by his wife, Delores Halm Scharschmidt; daughters, Debra Yarbrought and husband John of Arvada, Colo., Patti
Scharschmidt of Victoria, Texas and Carol Troy and husband Marc of Austin, Texas; brother, Ferdie Scharschmidt and wife La Nell of Lockhart; grandson, Chris Godsey of Victoria; aunts, Lillian Dusek and husband Emil of Rosenberg and Maddie Simmons of Orchard.
He was a member of the First Protestant Church in New Braunfels, TSTA and Automotive Service Organization. He was a Lockhart High school graduate, class of 1945 and obtained his teaching certificate at Southwest Texas University, class of 1968, then went on to teach adult auto mechanics at St. Edwards. He married Delores Halm, Nov. 13, 1954 in Pilot Knob.
Pallbearers were Franklin Halm, Gaylon Simmons, Joe Simmons, Danny Simmons, Melvin Blahuta, Robert Brockman and Thomas Baribeau.
Honorary Pallbearers are Bill Woody, Billy Stromberg, Conrad Ohlendorf and George Richey.
Memorials may be made to the First Protestant Church at 172 West Coll St., New Braunfels, Texas 78130.
Visitation was held on Dec. 30 at McCurdy Funeral Home. Services were held at 2 p.m., Friday, Dec. 31 at McCurdy Memorial Chapel. Internment followed at Memory Lawn Memorial Park, Rev. Tim Judkins, officiated.
