Bertha Reid

Bertha Reid, 94, passed away peacefully in Lockhart on Jan.7, 2009. She was born to Wallace and Maggie Cast Martin in Cedar Creek, Texas, on March 27, 1914.
She had worked many years for U.S. Postal Service as a secretary and for Texas Employment System before her retirement. She attended the Methodist Church.

Bertha is survived by her nephews, Gene Chambliss a

nd Norman Chambliss and wife, Georgia Mae, all of Dale, Don Martin, of Mt. Vernon, Ind., and Robert Martin, DDS, and wife, Brenda, of Prescott, Ariz.; and nieces, Della Mae Stevenson, of San Marcos, and Rose Kathren Nimrick, of Cedar Creek. Latter day caretakers were Karen Kay Buckner and husband, Billy Ray, Lucille Barth, Chisolm Trail Nursing Center and Gene Chambliss.

A private funeral service was held at Eeds Funeral Home with Pastor Stan White of the United Methodist Church of Cedar Creek officiating. Interment followed at the Cedar Creek Cemetery in Bastrop County.

Serving as pallbearers Don Martin, Norman Chambliss, Dr. Robert Martin, Billy Ray Buckner and Gene Chambliss.
