John Benjamin Byrd

Mr. John Benjamin Byrd, 78, of Lockhart died March 12, 2009, in Lockhart.

Mr. Byrd was born Sept. 25, 1930, in Waelder, Texas to Marvin and Bertha Mae Alexander Byrd. Mr. Byrd was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Armilda Byrd.

Mr. Byrd was a member of the First Lockhart Baptist Church and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. <

Mr. Byrd is survived by his children: Melanie Johnson and husband, Dan, and John Byrd and wife, Amanda; and eight grandchildren: Bree, Reha, Joseph, Norah, Clint, Maureen, Audrey and Claire.

Visitation was held from 10 – noon on Sunday March 15, 2009, at Eeds Funeral Home Chapel. Graveside Services were held at 2 p.m., at the International Order of Odd Fellows Cemetery in Georgetown, Texas, with Rev. Gary Rodgers officiating. Serving as pallbearers were Tim Norman, Ruben Villegas, Robert “Bo” Wilson, Jeffe “J. P.” Parra, Tom Hefner, and Roy Alexander.
