The Junior Varsity Lions hosted the Manor Mustangs on Monday, March 16 and took them down in five innings with a “10-run rule” shut out.
The Lions took control of the game from the start, scoring three runs in the first inning, while keeping the Mustangs at bay with strong pitching and solid defensive plays.
The Mu
stangs seemed out of their league, making numerous errors on the field and missing opportunities to score at bat.
The Lions scored again at the bottom of the third inning, bringing in six additional run for a 9-0 lead at the top of the fourth.
Both the Lions and the Mustangs had cold bats in the fourth. Strong defense from both sides of the diamond moved the game quickly into the fifth inning.
The Lions sealed their victory with the tenth run at the bottom of the fifth, ending the game at 10-0.
The Lions traveled to San Marcos to face the Rattlers on Friday, March 20 and to Lake Travis to face the Cavaliers on Saturday, March 21. Check next week’s Post-Register for scores and highlights.
