Lions sweep Gonzales

Lockhart High School finished its non-district action with an 8-7 record by knocking off the Gonzales Apaches, 57-49, on Friday night.
The Lions also won the Junior Varsity game, 49-40, and the Freshman game, 57-39.
“I am so proud of every single one of our student athletes,” Lockhart Head Coach Colin Hart said. “Playing on the road is always a tough task, but we went in there and handled our business. We are slowly getting everyone back and I’m excited to see what we can do going into district.”
Junior Dareon Loggins pumped in 24 points to pace the Lions, while sophomore DJ Anthony had 15, sophomore Johnny Ford 7, and junior John Camacho 6.
On Dec. 12, Lockhart fell to Floresville at the Lion’s Den, 44-29.
“We had plenty of opportunities but could not put the ball in the basket,” Hart said. “Defensively, we did a good job holding them to 44, but we couldn’t get anything going on the offensive side of the floor.”
Jordan Ortiz paced Lockhart with 8 points, followed by Anthony with 6, and Jacob Salas 4.
Lockhart opened District 25 action Tuesday at home against Cedar Park.
