Bertha L. Eureste, 89, of Lockhart, Texas, peacefully departed from this life on Thursday, February 29, 2024. Born to Eliodoro and Isaura Lopez on June 3, 1934, in Lockhart, Texas, Bertha’s life was a testament to love, dedication, and unwavering care for her family.
Bertha found joy in the simple pleasures of life, enjoying cooking and fishing as well as the fulfillment found in her work. To her, work was not just a duty but a cherished hobby, and she dedicated herself wholeheartedly to caring for her family, especially her beloved husband, Chris, whom she spoiled with her attentive care. An avid baseball fan, Bertha’s heart belonged to the Astros, but her true devotion was to her family, ensuring that no one left her presence hungry or thirsty after a visit.
In her leisure time, Bertha loved to challenge her mind with word puzzles, finding relaxation and satisfaction in the solving of each clue.
Bertha was preceded in death by her husband of almost 50 years, Crecencio (Chris) Eureste, and her siblings: Velia Hernandez, Oralia Bosque, Victoria Ramos, Tony Lopez, Trini Lopez, Dolores Arias, Alfonso Lopez, and Betty Salazar.
She is survived by her daughter, Linda Garcia, and husband Andy, her son, James Eureste, her sister, Mary Eve Davila, her grandsons, Jaime Garcia and wife Heather, and Josh Eureste, and her great-grandson, Oliver.
Honored to serve as pallbearers will be Michael Lopez, Michael Davila, Richard Perez, John Benavidez, Woody Salazar, and Abel Salazar. Honorary pallbearers are Arthur Bosque, Tommy Eureste, and Philip Lopez.
Visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m. on Monday, March 4, 2024, at St. Mary of the Visitation Catholic Church, with the recitation of the Holy Rosary at 9:30 a.m. and mass following at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
The Eureste family kindly requests that, in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to St. Mary of the Visitation Catholic Church or St. Mary’s Cemetery, honoring Bertha’s memory and the community she held dear.
