The barbecue festival is held both downtown and at Lockhart City Park.
Texas Monthly is working around construction that will be taking place with the Downtown Revitalization Project.
Melissa Reese, Director of Video and Events for Texas Monthly addressed the City Council at last week’s meeting.
“Last year we had about 12,000 people total; 4,500 on Sunday, which was all ticketed, and 7,500 on Saturday,” Reese said. “We added more barbecue joints downtown last year. We’re looking to expand this year on the Tacos Footprint.
“We’ve been happy with the event here. We love the drone show and hope it’s coming back. We had about 10 percent more on Sunday last year and significantly more on Saturday.”
Reese said the next top 50 barbecue restaurant list will not come out util 2025, but the hope is to bring as many as possible to the festiva.
“We’re trying to involve new folks on Saturday, too,” Reese said.
