Jennie Mae Lapoint passed away on April 28th, 2024 at the age of ninety-three. She was born in Lockhart, Texas to Jim and Scottie Lee on November 21st, 1930.

Jennie attended Lockhart High School and Texas State Teachers College.  She married Joe Lapoint on May 1st, 1951.  She retired from Southwest Texas State University as an administrative assistant; and was a member and regularly attended the First United Methodist Church of San Marcos.

She was preceded in death by her parents Jim and Scottie Lee, stepfather Edgar Black Sr, stepsister Frances Livengood, stepbrother Edgar Black Jr, and by her husband Joe Lapoint.

She is survived by daughters Gail Sharp, Jo Rene Tate, and Edie Morris, son Scott LaPoint and wife Cuijuan Zheng, grandsons Matt Sharp, Clay LaPoint, Joe Tate, Jake Tate, and Daniel Morris, granddaughters Katie LaPoint – Richards, Maggie LaPoint, and Nikki Morris, great-grandsons Brady Richards, Sebastian Dussan, and Norman LaPoint and great-granddaughter Juniper LaPoint.

Memorials may be given to Heart to Heart Hospice Foundation.

The family of Jennie Lapoint wishes to extend our sincere thanks to Heart to Heart Hospice and Brookdale (South) Assisted Living.

Visitation is Thursday, May 9, 2024, 5:00-7:00pm; and Funeral Services on Friday, May 10, 2024, at 10:00am, both at Pennington Funeral Home, 323 N. Comanche St., San Marcos, Texas 78666.  Burial will follow at Memory Lawn Memorial Park, 19106 San Marcos Hwy., San Marcos, Texas.
