Lockhart vs. Taylor
The Lockhart Lions” freshman basketball team hosted the Taylor Ducks at the Lions” Den Friday, Feb 4, for a tough loss, 26-52.
After the first quarter, the Lions sticking close to the Ducks as they led 13-9. However, in the second quarter the Lions went cold and couldn”t manage to score during the period giving the Ducks a 25-9 advantage at h
alftime.
During the third quarter, the Lions fought back and scored 14 points while only giving up 15 points to Taylor. Their scoring output didn”t last long as they went cold again from the floor. Taylor continued to outscore the Lions 3-12 during the fourth quarter.
Scoring for the Lions was Gerald Cuellar with nine points, Jonathan Gonzales with eight points, Joseph Torrez with three points, Ryan Carrasco with two points, Casey Butler with two points, and Jeremiah Johnson with two points.
Lockhart vs. Connally
The Lockhart Lions” freshman basketball team traveled to Pflugerville to play the Connally Cougars on Tuesday, Feb. 1, for their second match up in district.
The talented Cougars pressed the Lions on defense. Lockhart couldn”t answer to Connally”s speed as they raced past the Lions.
The Cougars outscored the Lions in every quarter to cruise to a 35-79 victory.
Scoring for the Lions was Jonathan Gonzales with nine points, Ryan Carrasco with seven points, Jeremiah Johnson with six points, Bre Dones with four points, Gerald Cuellar with four points, Casey Butler with three points and Shane Sellers with two points.
