Lady Lions crush LaGrange in district opener

The Varsity Lady Lions dealt a crushing blow to the LaGrange Leopards on Friday night, opening the district soccer season with a resounding 5-1 victory.

Each Lady Lion goal was scored by a different team member, with Christina Knudsen, Cindy Partida, Ashley Boykin, Francesca Sanchez and Anais Villasenor-Tapia putting po

ints on the board toward the victory.

According to Coach Lee Ortiz, Sydney Henrichs, Leah Reinlander and Shaylyn Miller led the charge with outstanding performance on defense.

The victory brought the Lady Lions season record to 6-3. The team had a bye on Jan. 26, and will return to action on Friday, Jan. 29, when they face the Giddings Lady Buffaloes at Lion Stadium beginning at 6 p.m. The Lady Lions will then travel to Taylor to face the Lady Ducks on Feb. 2.
