Angelique “Sandie” Urrutia
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, daughter, sister, and grandmother, Angelique Casandra “Sandie” Urrutia, 35, of Las Cruces and formerly of Lockhart, Texas. She was born April 11, 1975, in El Paso, Texas, to Israel Leon, Sr., and Elizabeth Ann Jordan Ruiz.
“Sandie” as she was fondly known by family and friends, was an
accountant with Mountain Shadows Home Health Care Services and was a member of Calvary Christian Center, where she was an instructor for the praise dance team.
Survivors include her parents; her husband, Carlos Urrutia, Sr.; two sons, Carlos Phillip Urrutia, Jr., and Daniel James Urrutia, both of Lockhart; two daughters, Ashley Nichole Urrutia, of Lockhart, and Victoria Grace Urrutia, of Las Cruces; three brothers, Israel Leon, Jr., and Jose Anthony Ruiz, both of Las Cruces, and Nehemiah Leon, of Bakersfield, Calif.; and five sisters: Antonia Leon-Saucedo, of Austin, Texas, Nina Leon, of Bakersfield, Calif., Destiny and Sara Leon, both of Del Valle, Texas, and Melodie Leon, of Bakersfield, Calif. Other survivors include two grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
Visitation for Sandie was held from 6 – 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 10, 2010, in Baca’s Chapel of Prayer, 300 E. Boutz Road. Her funeral service was held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 11, 2010 in the same chapel. Cremation will follow and inurnment of cremains will take place at a later date.
