Johanna Swain, 103, a resident of Lytton Springs for the last 16 years, died at home on Aug. 19, 2010.

Johanna was born in Bildtzel, Holland, on April 14, 1907. She came to the United States on Sept. 29, 1913, with her parents, Henry and Jenny Keizer, and sister, Henrietta. She became a U.S. citizen on Aug. 12, 1927. The family in South Dakota for many years, where Jo

hanna taught school prior to her marriage to Fred I. Swain on March 28, 1931. They moved to Indiana in 1958 where Fred passed away in 1982. She moved to Lytton Springs, Texas, in 1996. Johanna was a member of First United Methodist Church in Lockhart.

Survivors are sons: Donald (Lois) Swain, of Brentford, S.D., and Robert (Lelia) Swain, of Norwood, Ga.; daughters, Betty (Jerry) Talbert, of Alvin, Texas, and June Wood, of Lytton Springs; eleven grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, sister and a son-in-law, Art Wood.

A memorial service will be held at First United Methodist Church in Lockhart, on Aug. 28, 2010, at 11 a.m., with Rev. Bob Hahn officiating. Interment will be in Garden of Memory Cemetery, Huntington County, Indiana.
