An update will be held from 5-7 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 9 in the second-floor courtroom of the Caldwell County Courthouse, 110 S. Main St. In Lockhart.

Communities with a FEMA-approved plan are eligible for specific grant funding under the Hazard Mitigation Assistance (HMA) Program. Your feedback will help ensure that a plan is developed in a way that will best prepare Caldwell County and its residents for future hazards.

Input from the public will help the planning team, made up of county, city, and special district representatives, identify and analyze potential natural hazards—including flooding, winter storms, and drought—that affect residents and recommend possible actions to reduce their impact throughout the County.

Under the Disaster Mitigation Act of 2000, the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) requires communities to develop a mitigation plan to minimize or eliminate the longterm risk to human life and property from known hazards.

Planning and grant consultants will lead the meeting and answer questions from the public.
