Hillview Christian Ministries is a private foundation based in Caldwell County, Texas, and serving the surrounding area. This spring, Golden Age Home was added to the list of organizations that Hillview Christian Ministries has supported. Hillview awarded Golden Age Home a $50,000 grant to support its Affordable Housing program.
In the late 1990s, Golden Age Home added Affordable Independent Housing Units through a 15-year program with TDHCA. When this program ended in 2012, the Board of Directors decided to keep the units under the same reduced rates. Since 2012, the program has been sustained through grants from foundations such as Hillview Christian Ministries and fundraising.
Hillview’s primary focus is to support nonprofit organizations addressing food, shelter, education, and land preservation in Central Texas. Golden Age Home’s affordable housing program provides more than food and shelter to senior adults. By residing at Golden Age Home, all seniors receive assistance with housekeeping, healthcare oversight, meals, emergency assistance, and social engagement. These “extra benefits” are available to all who live at Golden Age Home and are what set Golden Age Home apart from other affordable housing units throughout the county. The affordable housing program is made possible by support from individual donors and foundations throughout Central Texas.
Executive Director, Nicole Burnett shared, “As the only nonprofit senior living community in Lockhart and Caldwell County, we remain deeply committed to serving those who are most vulnerable. Our sixteen affordable assisted and independent living units provide a lifeline for seniors who would otherwise face housing instability, food insecurity, or premature institutionalization. We are deeply grateful to partner with Hillview Christian Ministries for their generous grant to sustain these affordable units and the wrap-around services that bring safety, security, and stability.”
Hillview Christian Ministries was founded in 2004 as a support organization for the Lockhart Methodist Church. After several years of offering missionary grants and assisting families and orphans, in 2018 the foundation started a partnership program where they worked with specific organizations to support their missions. The groups have included: The Caldwell County Food Bank, the Luling Food Pantry, Luling High School, TrueLight127, and several others. Hillview Foundation became a Private Foundation in 2021 and has expanded its efforts to include additional scholarship programs and support other nonprofit organizations in the region. The foundation believes it is their mission to spread God’s Word by our actions. They follow James 1:27 – which says: “Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.”
