Lions fall 0-2 to Hays, prepare for playoffs
The Varsity Lions soccer team wound down their season last week, splitting victories with Hays and La Grange.
The Lions were on the road on March 8, traveling to Kyle to take on the Hays Rebels. Although the Lions were able to hold the Rebels scoreless for the first 60 minutes of play, they fell 0-2.
“The guys played great defense tonight against a good offensive team,?
?? Coach Joshua Johnson said. “They worked hard… it took a great team effort to go into Hays and hold them scoreless for as long as we did.”
The Lions’ offensive efforts were thwarted, unfortunately, with two scoring chances late in the game that did not come together.
Johnson recognized Khalil Karl, Caleb Peters, Moses Ramirez and Moises Perez as key players for their contributions on the field.
The Lions returned home for Senior Night on March 11, and handed a 4-0 defeat to LaGrange. Details of that game were not available at press time.
The Lions will finish regular-season play on Friday, March 18 when they face Brenham, and will travel to Pflugerville on Friday, March 25 to face Hendrickson in the first round of the playoffs.
Playoff action at Hendrickson High School, 2905 FM 685 in Pflugerville, is slated to begin at 7 p.m.?From Lockhart, travel north on Highway 183 to SH-130. Take SH-130 north to the FM?685 exit, where Hendrickson High School will be on the right.
