Juarez to represent Lockhart in Beaumont Nationals
The ASA 18U Texas Rough Riders Blue have qualified to participate in the Softball Nationals being held in Beaumont, July 25 – July 30. Janie Juarez will be representing Lockhart on this ASA 18U softball team.
In order for this team to participate in Nationals, they had to play in qualifying tournaments and also participate in the State Tournament, which was also held
in Beaumont earlier this month. This team took third in the fourth of July tournament held in Seguin and has placed in other tournaments. She has also played in a couple of College Showcase tournaments.
Janie has not only played softball this summer, she has also attended the Upward Bound program at Texas State University. Playing softball has given her a welcomed break from her studies of Geometry, Chemistry and English II.
Janie usually plays catcher, shortstop and third base; however, Coach Rene Natal has made Janie a utility player. He started her out at first base and then second. She also plays the outfield. She “loves” playing softball and will play wherever she is needed.
This tournament is a chance to meet other girls from all over the state of Texas and other states. College scouts will also be3 at this tournament.
