Lady Lion Cross Country competes at Regionals

The District 26-4A champion Lady Lion Cross Country team faced off against very hot competition at University of Texas-San Antonio for the Region IV-4A Championship race on Saturday, Nov. 5.

d, the team finished 8th out of the 24 regional teams and 170 individual runners that competed, with a team total of 221 points. There are a total of 60 teams that compete in the entire Region IV.
Leading the Lady Lion charge was senior Tami Warner (27th), followed by Alyson Gonzales and Livi Massey, who finished 35th and 36th respectively. Freshman Jannah Platt was the Lady Lions” fourth runner to cross the finish line with her 56th place finish. Rounding out the top five was Naomi Oliva in 66th place. Alyson Daily was the sixth runner for Lockhart in 70th place, who was unable to overcome weekly illnesses at Saturday”s race. Senior Courtney Lee came in 72nd for the Lady Lions.
The Lady Lion team finished a very successful year having returned to the top as District Champions, and will return 5 of its top 7 runners next season.
“This group of outstanding young ladies should really be proud of themselves for the season they had,” Coach Lee Datesman said. “Everyday I have asked for their absolute best. Never once was I disappointed. This relatively young group was asked to compete against the best in the state on many occasions. They never backed down. They never will. While our season was just tremendous with the district championship, our best days are still to come.
