Eunice Wells

Eunice Baker Wells, born on Nov. 16, 1920, in Dale, Texas in Caldwell County to Claude W. Baker and Loma Robuck Baker, died July 20, at her home in Lockhart, Texas. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Dr. C. W. Baker, Jr.; brother-in-law, Harrison Douglas; and granddaughter, Naomi Marie Wells.

Eunice grew up in Petronila, Texas, and after marriage lived in Ali

ce, Texas, for 69 years. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Alice, Alice Chapter of Eastern Star since 1938 and Daughters of the American Revolution Clearfork and Smuggler’s Pass Chapters. She had a passion for history and genealogical studies; and extensively researched her grandfather E. A. Robuck, Chisholm Trail Pioneer Trail Driver. She was the Director of the South Texas Museum in Alice for 15 years and member and chair of the Jim Wells County Historical Society; she was responsible for seven Historical Markers for Jim Wells County.

Eunice is survived by a son, David (Annette) Wells, of McMahan; a grandson, Jesse Wells, of Spring; a granddaughter, Christian Garcia, of Austin; sister, Frances Douglas, of Bartlett; sister-in-law, Virginia Baker of Dale; three nephews: Charles Douglas, of Belton, Dr. Bruce Baker, of Amarillo, and Brian Baker, of Lake Travis; and close family: Consuelo Rul Garcia, of San Marcos, and Fernando Garcia, of Laredo.

A memorial service will be held at Bethel Primitive Baptist Church, 5544 FM 713, Lockhart (McMahan), TX. Final disposition will be a private interment at the Jeffrey Cemetery, McMahan, Texas.
