Harold Ray Segler
Harold Ray Segler, 71, died Sunday, May 7, 2006, at the Chisolm Trail Nursing Home in Lockhart. During his three-year battle with cancer, his faith in God never wavered.
Harold was born on Feb. 5, 1935, in Iowa Park, Texas, to Ellen Griffith Segler and Sid Segler.
He was a member of the 1953 graduating class of San Marcos High School. Many of his classmates remai
ned life-long friends. After serving four years in the United States Air Force, he attended Southwest Texas State University (now Texas State University). In the 1960s, Harold coached and taught math at Lockhart High School. After a time in the insurance business, he returned to Lockhart and again was with the Lockhart Independent School District as a substitute teacher for many years.
Harold was active in several local churches and was currently a member of Faith Chapel. He was a member of a Bible study group and valued the friendships he made with the members.
He is survived by his wife, Clara; daughters and sons-in-law, Christy and Dane Braun and Nancy and David Grabarkewitz; and grandsons, Blake and Cole Braun, all of Lockhart; brother, Dave of Rockport; and numerous nieces and nephews. He is also survived by Clara”s children and their spouses: daughter Sherry and Randy Burns, daughter Kathy and Scott Haynes, and son Al Webb; also eight grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Six of Harold”s step-grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
Harold was preceded in death by his beloved son Hal in 1965; his parents, and his two brothers, Howard and Irvin.
The family would like to thank those who provided such excellent care to Harold in his last weeks – Central Texas Medical Center Hospice of San Marcos and Skip Smith and the staff at Chisolm Trail Nursing Home. A special thank you also to Dr. Robert Kilbourn and the nurses at Southwest Regional Cancer Center in San Marcos.
Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. on Tuesday, May 9, 2006, at McCurdy Memorial Chapel with Rev. Leo Miller and Vern Stone officiating. Interment followed in the Lockhart City Cemetery.

Hazel Stephen
Hazel O”Dell Stephen, 78, of Harwood died May 1, 2006.
Mrs. Stephen was born Dec. 31, 1927 in Paris, Texas.
She is survived by her husband, Hugh Stephen of Harwood.
Visitation was held at 6 p.m. May 3, 2006 at Eeds Funeral Home. Funeral Services were held at 11 a.m. May 4, at the Delhi Baptist Church with Rev. Rodney Patten officiating. Interment followed in the Delhi Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers were Harlon McMullen, Don George, Clark Walker, Jay Creighton, Adrian White and Gary White.
