Alvin C. Wallace

Mr. Alvin C. Wallace was born on Aug. 22, 1922, in San Marcos, Texas, to the late Willie Wallace and Tennie Denton Porter.

He attended public schools in said area and upon graduation enlisted in the United States Army. He was united in Holy Matrimony to Doris Norman, and to this sacred union, three lovely daughters were born. Mr. Wallace is preceded in death by his

daughter, Mary Elizabeth Gipson.

He is survived by his daughters, Sandra Juanita Franks and husband, Hiawatha C. Franks, and Patricia Ann Knowles and husband, Walter A. Knowles; two brothers, Leroy Porter, Jr., and Willie James Porter, and also by his loving and long-time companion, Odessa Mays. Sweet Memories of him will live on in the lives of his surviving grandchildren: Selina Robertson (Tony), Hiawatha C. Franks, Jr., Armon Gipson, Dorian Gipson, Premere Knowles, Derek Franks and Marcus Knowles; three great-grandchildren: Sean Henderson, Alexandria Robertson and Natasha Robertson; and a host of other relatives and friends.

A funeral service will be held at the St. James A.M.E. Church, 1215 N. Pecos, Lockhart, Texas, at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 6, 2010. Serving as pallbearers will be: Hiawatha Franks, Jr., Derek Franks, Armon Gipson, Dorian Gipson, Marcus Knowles and Sean Henderson. Interment will follow at Hooks Cemetery in Lockhart, Texas.
