Andrew J. Hart, Jr., known as Jack, of Uhland, Texas, passed away on Thursday, July 6, 2006 in his home with his daughters and granddaughter by his side.
He was born in Parker, Johnson County, Texas on Sept. 23, 1918, to Andrew Jackson Hart and Josephine Stevens Hart. His parents” families were early settlers who came to Texas to farm and raise cattle.
After serv

ing in both the European and Pacific theaters in WWII, Jack returned home where he met and soon married Jeannie Nalley on Jan. 11, 1947, in Cleburne, Texas. He was recalled into the Air Force during the Korean conflict and retired with over 22 years of service in 1967. He returned to his family home place in Covington, Texas, to raise cattle and in 1990 he moved his cattle operation to Uhland to be closer to his daughters.
After Jeannie passed away on Feb. 10, 1967, Jack devoted himself to the care of their children.
He is survived by his children and their families: Michael J. Hart of Godley, Texas, Shelly Hart Kaufman of Austin, and Nicole Hart of Uhland.
The family would like to thank Dr. Brian Lengel and staff of the Austin VA Clinic for their care during the last years and Hospice Austin for their support during the last week. Memorials may be made to the Arthritis Foundation or to a charity of choice.
Jack Hart was honored in a graveside military service at 10:45 a.m. on Tuesday, July 11, 2006, at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio with Chaplain Leslie B. McClain officiating.
