Funeral services for Antonia Perez Alva were held on Tuesday, Dec. 14 at 2 p.m. at Resthaven”s Abbey Chapel with Rev. David Blanco officiating. Rosary was said at 7 p.m., Monday, Dec. 13 at Resthaven”s Abbey Chapel with Deacon Benny Brito officiating. Interment followed in Resthaven Memorial Park under the direction of Resthaven Funeral Home.

Antonia passed away Saturday, Dec. 11 at her residence. She was born on April 24, 1920 in Uhland, Texas. She married Gamaliel Alva, Sr. on February 13, 1944 in Lockhart, TEXAS. They moved to Lubbock in 1952. She was preceded in death by her husband; two daughters, Catarina and Joan Alva; and one son, Gamaliel Alva, Jr.

Survivors include four daughters, Frances Todd and Abigail Alva both of Lubbock, Bertha Anderson and husband Roger of Phoenix, Ariz. and Dora Oliva and husband Arthur of Ft. Worth; two sons, Osvaldo “Johnny” Alva of Lubbock, and Armando P. Alva, Sr. and wife Linda of Guymon, Okla.; 15 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; two brothers, Conrad Perez of Lockhart, and Sostenez Perez of Richville, Mi.; three sisters, Paula Hurtado of Westminster, Colo., Virginia Rivera and Eva Parks both of Amarillo; and several nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials to the American Diabetes Association, 8008 Slide Road, Lubbock, TEXAS 79424.
