A Lockhart-area resident is at the center of a multi-county investigation into allegations of indecency with minors.
According to a statement released this week by Sgt. Paul Cowan, public information officer for the Caldwell County Sheriff”s Office, Gary Wayne Spencer, 38, was arrested after a referral from the Guadalupe

County Sheriff”s Department led investigators to believe that Spencer had committed acts of Indecency with a Child in Caldwell County.
The case has been referred to the Caldwell County District Attorney”s Office and is pending indictment.
At least three victims in Caldwell County, ranging in age from 6 – 12 years at the time of the incidents, have given statements to investigators. However, the investigation is still underway in Guadalupe and other counties, and additional charges may be filed against Spencer.
Because of their ages at the time of the incidents, the identities of the victims are being protected.
According to representatives of the Lockhart Police Department, an investigation into Spencer”s involvement in the incidents was launched after a complaint was filed in Guadalupe County. Unsure as to whether Lockhart or Caldwell County would have proper jurisdiction over the investigation, Guadalupe County contacted LPD, who then forwarded the case to CCSO.
After conducting interviews with Spencer and with the victims, Caldwell County investigators opted to move forward with the charges, obtaining an arrest warrant from Precinct One Justice of the Peace M. Louis Cisneros.
Spencer has been charged with multiple counts of Indecency with a Child by Sexual Contact, and is being held in Caldwell County Jail on $10,000 bond.
