Caught with FLOCK

Thanks to some modern-day tech, Caldwell County deputies didn’t have to look far to catch up with a wanted suspect.

Using Flock’s license plate recognition system, the Sheriff’s Office was able to spot a vehicle tied to a suspect with multiple outstanding warrants for invasive visual recordings and the voyeurism of children. Once the system flagged the vehicle inside Caldwell County, deputies moved in and made the arrest without any trouble.

The suspect, identified as Ramiro Aviles Orduna, was taken into custody and booked into the Caldwell County Jail. Records show this isn’t his first run-in with the law, Orduna was previously booked in Caldwell County on May 15, 2024, for interfering with an emergency request for assistance.

The Sheriff’s Office said the quick arrest is another example of how technology is helping law enforcement keep communities safe.

“We’re committed to using innovative tools and proactive strategies to enhance public safety and ensure justice,” the department said in a statement.

Officials say Flock Safety’s automated system continues to be a valuable asset, helping deputies identify vehicles connected to crimes faster and more accurately than ever before.
