Campuses, students prepare for ‘back-to-school’

Lockhart Independent School District is preparing for the coming school year in a number of ways, including helping parents follow all the steps to easily register their children for school.
All students new to the Lockhart Independent School District must register with the Lockhart ISD Central Office before enrolling
at a specific campus. Central Office is located at 105 S. Colorado (Highway 183 between San Antonio and Market Streets).
Central Office is open from 8 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Upon their registration at Central Office, students will receive their campus assignments.
To register a student for enrollment, parents or guardians must have available: the student’s birth certificate; the student’s shot records; the student’s Social Security Card; proof of residency; and parent or guardian’s photo identification.
Under State law, children may not be enrolled in school unless their vaccinations are up to date. See the First-Lockhart National Bank Community Calendar on Page 2A of today’s Post-Register for information on immunization clinics for area students.
Kindergarten and
Pre-Kindergarten students
Pre-K and Kindergarten registration will be held 1 -3 p.m. only on Aug. 6 – 15 at Carver Kindergarten at 371 Carver Street in Lockhart. See Page 2A of today’s Post-Register for a full list of documentation needed for Kindergarten and Pre-kindergarten registration.
Elementary students
When LISD elementary students register at Central Office, they will be assigned to one of the district’s four elementary campuses. The parents must then visit that campus to complete registration and emergency-contact paperwork. Most elementary campuses will host “Meet and Greet” events prior to the start of school on Aug. 25 to allow parents to meet their children’s teachers. Lockhart Junior
High School Students
Registration for students new to Lockhart Junior High School will be held from 8 – 11:30 a.m. and 1 – 3 p.m. on Aug. 6 – 8, Aug. 11 – 13 and Aug. 19 – 21. Evening registration from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. will be offered on Aug. 14, and afternoon registration from 1 – 3 p.m. will be held on Aug. 19.
Students who completed the fifth grade in one of the LISD elementary schools are already registered.
Homeroom lists will be posted in front of the building after 4 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 22, 2008.
The first day of school is Monday, Aug. 25, and the first bell rings at 7:55 a.m. On the first day of school, students will report to their homerooms.
LHS Freshmen
Incoming students may register at the LHS Freshman Campus between 8 – 11 a.m. and 1 – 3 p.m. any day, Monday – Friday, until Aug. 22. Homeroom assignments and class schedules will be distributed to LHS Freshman Campus students prior to the start of classes on Aug. 25.
Lockhart High
School Students
Students new to Lockhart High School may register at LHS during regular office hours beginning Monday, Aug. 11. Homerooms will be posted on Monday, Aug. 18.
On the first day of school, students should report to their homerooms by 7:55 a.m.
Pride High School Students
Lockhart Pride High School will accept applications for enrollment for the 2008 – 2009 school year from Monday, Aug. 11 – Friday, Aug. 15.
Lockhart Pride High School students should report at 8 a.m. for the first day of classes on Monday, Aug. 25.
All campuses and Central Office will be closed on Monday, Aug. 18 for a district-wide inservice to prepare for the coming school year. For additional information, contact Lockhart ISD Central Office at (512) 398-0000.
