New Braunfels, Texas – June 1, 2026 – CASA of Central Texas is excited to announce the Central Texas Foster Care Simulation. This unique and powerful event will increase awareness and understanding of the foster care system by providing many different perspectives.

About the event–Big Country CASA developed this foster care simulation curriculum in 2020. CASA of Central Texas, Gruene United Methodist Church, and SJRC Texas Belong are bringing it to Central Texas to provide a realistic, interactive experience of a “month” in foster care. CASA invites the community to join them for this event where attendees will either play the role of a child in foster care, a biological parent, a foster parent, a CASA volunteer, or a caseworker and experience a simulation of what four weeks in foster care can entail. Many local professionals will also be partnering for the event to provide the attendees with a realistic experience. Registration is required for this free event, which will be held on July 22, 2026 from 9am to 1pm at Gruene United Methodist Church (2629 E. Common St, New Braunfels, TX).

Norma Blackwell, CEO of CASA of Central Texas, says of the event “Our hope is that the foster care simulation brings the community together and inspires people to serve and support those that are involved in the foster care system. There is a need to increase our capacity for serving these children and families. This event will help give people the perspective and understanding they need to decide how they can best get involved.”
