The City’s Downtown Revitalization Project continues to make steady progress as contractors completed several key portions of roadway improvements this week.
Crews have finished paving Market Street between Main and Commerce Streets, as well as the intersection of Commerce and Market. In addition, workers installed 18 linear feet of irrigation sleeves, preparing the area for the arrival of an arborist who will oversee the next phase of landscaping and tree installation.
Permanent striping also began on Prairie Lea Street and Church Street, marking another milestone in the downtown improvement effort aimed at enhancing safety and accessibility for both drivers and pedestrians.
Starting Monday, October 20, construction crews will begin roadwork on San Antonio Street between Church Street and U.S. 183. This section of roadway will be closed during construction, which is expected to take approximately three weeks. Drivers are encouraged to plan for detours and allow extra travel time through the downtown area.
In the coming week, striping operations will continue along North Church Street, Walnut, North Main, and North Commerce. Meanwhile, the concrete crew will return to complete the median on San Antonio Street between Main and Commerce Streets, further improving the corridor’s appearance and functionality.
City officials remind residents and visitors to remain cautious near construction zones and appreciate the community’s patience as downtown enhancements continue.
