County to invest $1M in Hays road project

In partnership with a regional transportation vision for Central Texas, the Caldwell County Commissioners voted on Monday to invest not only in support, but in financial backing.

ane with Yarrington Road, crosses the Caldwell County border in a limited scope, and does qualify, according to those familiar with the project, to be funded with a portion of the $10 million set aside by the SH-130 Concession Fund for Caldwell County to create “connectivity” with the controversial tollway.
Commissioner Fred Buchholtz was steadfast against the expenditure, instead expressing his support for the Commissioners drafting a specific plan for the use of the funds. Additionally, he said, he wanted to spend some time researching the creation of a “transportation reinvestment zone,” which will be a taxing entity attached to the transportation project.
