It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Mr. Domingo Yruegas, age 78, of Lockhart, Texas. Domingo passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 17, 2024. He was born to Arturo and Jovita Yruegas on October 21, 1945.

Mr. Yruegas was a man of many remarkable qualities. He was a Leader, having served as a past member of the Lockhart school board and as a proud member of the PAGA (Pan American Golf Association). He stood as a pillar of the community, involved in numerous endeavors to better the lives of those around him. Domingo was also known for his Humor, always ready with a joke and a smile to brighten the day of those around him. Above all, he was Loyal to his family, who meant the world to him.

In his spare time, Domingo enjoyed playing golf, cheering on the Longhorns and Cowboys, and spending cherished moments with his numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. His devout Catholic faith was the cornerstone of his life, guiding him in all his endeavors.

Domingo’s legacy is one of love and mentorship. He will be remembered as a loving father and grandfather, a loyal friend, and a mentor to many. His influence extended beyond his family, touching the lives of many children in the community who saw him as a father figure. He always placed his family above all else, a testament to his unwavering dedication and love.

Among the many significant events in Domingo’s life, the birth of his children and grandchildren brought him immense joy. Another cherished memory was the day he acquired his classic Mustang, a symbol of his love for classic cars and the joy of driving.

If Domingo could speak to those attending his service, he would likely say, “Hasta MaƱana,” a heartfelt farewell until we meet again.

Domingo was preceded in death by his parents, Arturo and Jovita Yruegas, his sister, Herminia Trejo, his brother, Marcos Yruegas, and his grandson, Carmelo Jae Guerrero. He is survived by his children, Christina Yruegas Hopes and husband Marvin, Heather Ann Yruegas, Michael Phillip Yruegas, Sr., and Angelica Yruegas Guerrero and husband Charlie. He also leaves behind his sisters, Dion Cruz, Janie DeLeon, Maria Bosquez, Jovita Dillon, his brother, Tony Yruegas, eight grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.

Visitation will begin at 5:00 p.m. on Monday, July 22, 2024, at St. Mary of the Visitation Catholic Church, with the recitation of the holy rosary at 7:00 p.m. Funeral mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 23, 2024, also at St. Mary of the Visitation Catholic Church, with Rev. Father Ramiro Tarazona Jerez officiating. Burial will follow in Bunton Cemetery in Dale, Texas.

In our hearts and memories, Domingo Yruegas will forever remain a shining example of love, laughter, and unwavering loyalty.
