Eleanor Thorson Scott

Eleanor Ruth Thorson Scott, age 88, was born in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and passed away surrounded by the love of her family. She lived a full and beautiful life marked by devotion, service, and an unwavering love for family.
Eleanor was the beloved wife of Buford Wayne Scott, her best friend and soulmate. Together they shared a remarkable journey filled with faith, laughter, and adventure. One of their greatest joys was traveling together including 23 cruises. Eleanor and Buford traveled extensively throughout the country and the world, always eager to visit their children and grandchildren.
Eleanor was a devoted mother to her children: Eric Hamad (Stacey), Lori Jo Sweeney (Kurt), David Hamad (Kim), Jill Hamad Vane (Joe), Robyn Hamad, and Bethany Hunter Horn (Aaron). She was also a loving stepmother to Denise Scott, Michelle Scott Guajardo, Buford Shannon Scott, Tracey Ann Morgan, Kimberly Sue Jensen, and Jeffery John Hunter. She was deeply proud of her many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren, all of whom were a constant source of joy in her life.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Theodore and Elsie Thorson; her brother, Theodore K. Thorson; her sister, Jeanette Earnst; and her stepsons, Sheldon Scott and Christopher Scott.
Eleanor was very active in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where her faith guided her life and service. She had a deep passion for family and was well known for organizing family reunions that brought generations together. Eleanor loved children and dedicated her professional life to serving them through her career as a school nurse, giving back to her community with compassion and care.
A gifted and devoted scrapbooker, Eleanor lovingly documented the lives of her children and grandchildren, preserving memories that will be cherished for generations. Her creativity, organization, and attention to detail reflected her deep love for family and her desire to keep those stories alive.
Eleanor will be remembered for her kindness, devotion, faith, and boundless love. Her legacy lives on through the many lives she touched and the family she held so dear.
Graveside services will be held Monday, January 12, 2026, at 11:00am at Memory Lawn Memorial Park in Martindale, Texas.
