Ada Elizabeth Colwell was born on Oct. 24, 1927 in Luling Texas, the first child of Arthur B. and Alma Davis Colwell. She grew up in Lockhart, Texas, graduating from LHS in 1946.
She worked at the ticket booth at the Baker Theater and as a teller at the First-Lockhart National Bank.
She married J.W. “Jake” Duran in 1947 and is survived by their two sons, Jame

s William “Bill” Duran and Jacob Charles “Charlie” Duran and their families.
Other survivors include an aunt, Ruth Koontz Davis of Conroe, Texas and her family. She is also survived by her four siblings, Eleanor Williams, Bruce Colwell, Joe Colwell and James Colwell and their families.
Also surviving are eight grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; 13 of her 14 Davis first cousins and their families and four of five Colwell first cousins and their families.
Liz worked at the Mercantile National Bank in Corpus Christi, Texas for many years. She was married for 39 years to her late husband, J.R. Williams. They ranched near Barksdale, Texas for 30 years developing a superior line of Brangus cattle.
Liz died on Dec. 11, 2006 in Arlington, Texas after living there for two years near her son, Charlie. She was buried in Rocksprings, Texas, next to J.R. on Dec. 16, 2006 after funeral services in Camp Wood, Texas at the Nelson Funeral Home.
