Frances Dorene “Dodie” Cavness of Cherokee, Texas passed away peacefully on February 14, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on August 4, 1939 at her parents’ home in Lockhart, Texas. Dodie spent her life unselfishly caring for the needs of those around her.

After graduating from Lockhart High School, Dodie briefly lived in Tennessee before returning to her home state of Texas, marrying Clyde Phil Cavness. She began this journey in Liberty Hill, Texas and eventually settled in Cherokee, Texas, where she built a wonderful, loving home for her family.

She is survived by her daughter, Shawna Gail Brown and husband Kelly Brown of Cherokee and son Clyde Phil Cavness Jr. and his wife Melissa of Marble Falls, sister Patricia Ann Barker of Pflugerville, niece Christy Barker, niece Dawn Gephart and her husband Darrin, grandson Jordan Cavness and his wife Chelsea, grandson Robert Brewer and his wife Allie, grandson Kagen Hernandez and his wife Marissa, grandson Zach Brown and his wife Kristyn, granddaughter Brittany Cavness, and great-grandchildren Legend Cavness, Cambree Hoyt, Willow Brewer, Lou Velle Heffington, and Teal Hernandez.

Dodie was preceded in death by her father, Ross Andrews, her mother Dora Andrews,
and numerous other family members who cherished her love and friendship.

She enjoyed attending church, working on crossword puzzles, visiting her sister, volunteering at community events, and enthusiastically supporting her children and grandchildren at their athletic events.

Dodie was a bright light shining in a world sometimes clouded in fear and uncertainty, constantly reassuring everyone around her that they were safe and loved. Her presence on this earth was a gift to everyone that was blessed enough to cross her path. Her kindness and good nature were unparalleled, and the legacy of her love will live on for generations.

A memorial service for Dodie will be held on February 28th, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. at Cherokee Baptist Church for her many friends and loved ones.
