Gerald Hill was born on Sept. 14, 1932, in Peoria, Ill., to Lester Hill and Melva Howerton Hill. He was the youngest of five sons and was preceded in death by his brothers, Donald Melvin Hill, Davy Lee Hill, and half-brother, Louis Hill. Gerald passed away on June 24, 2014.

Gerald served in the Navy and was a member of the Masons in Illinois. After retiring from Caterpillar,

he and his family moved to Austin, Texas, to be closer to his brother, Davy, and Davy’s wife, Laverne, and their family.

He is survived by step-brother, John Harold Hill; son, Todd Allen Hill (mother, Betty Lamberson Cathey) and Todd’s fiancee, Patsey. Gerald is also survived by son, Daniel Scott Hill (mother, Donna Butte); step-daughter, Rhonda Zamora and her daughter, Jenny; sisters-in-law, Joy Hasler Hill and Laverne Pedersen Hill;  cousin, Howard “Bud” Fuller and wife, Peggy; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Gerald (lovingly nicknamed “Goob”) was a hard-working man who also embraced and excelled at the Hill family trait of playing jokes. His sense of humor and laughter will truly be missed, but our family takes solace that somewhere in Heaven there’s a little cafe serving Goob’s favorite “jeanut putter and belly with a nice cof of cupee.”

Arrangements by Cook-Walden Forrest Oaks Funeral Home and Memorial Park – Austin, Texas.
