Gertrude “Ducy” Shirley, 82, of Lytton Springs, passed away on September 25, 2004 in Luling, Texas. She was born on May 22, 1922 in Bastrop County to William F. and Ola Dee (McWhorter) McCarty.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, John Paul Shirley; 2 brothers and 1 sister.
She is survived by her daughters, Edit Creamer of Nacogdoches, Barbara Darn
ell and husband Bobby of Lytton Springs, Carole Scallorn and finance, Bob Long of Nashville, Tenn., Wanda Hobbs and husband Martin of Thorndale and Paula Powell and husband Ricky of Bastrop; sisters, Pearl Wisnieski of Niederwald, Agnes Dawson of Niederwald and Erline Adkins and husband Jack of Lytton Springs; 12 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren.
She was a member of the Lytton Springs Baptist Church, the Lytton Springs Quilting Club, Lytton Springs Volunteer Fire Department and the Glenvior Home Extension Club.
Visitation was held on Monday at McCurdy Funeral Home. Services were held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, September 28, 2004 at McCurdy Memorial Chapel, Rev. Robert Griffith officiating. Interment followed at the Lytton Springs Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Wesley Scallorn, Bruce Wilson, James Sawson, Craig Darrelllange, Shester Guynes, Lee Glass and Jessie Ferin
