“Next year” seemed to be just too long for the Lockhart 9-10-year-old Girls All Stars to wait to beat the All Star team from Seguin, who handed Lockhart’s girls a brutal defeat last week.
Lockhart came back from the devastating 22-1 loss on Friday, June 27 with a vengeance.
On Monday, June 30, they went up against
New Braunfels and were ahead 15-10 when the game was called due to rain.
On Tuesday, July 1 they continued the game against New Braunfels, finally beating them with a nail-biting final score of 25-24.
With their confidence restored, the girls looked forward to their rematch against the Seguin team on Wednesday, July 2. Kyla Gibbs pitched all six innings for the first time in a game. Gibbs dug deep and threw much needed strikes in the last inning. Catcher Tristan St. Peter helped the team with her outstanding catcher skills. The whole team worked together well enough to pull off the difficult win.
Lockhart beat a Seguin team that has been together for four years and is a powerhouse in the Girls Little League All Stars because of their tremendous talent.
After a hard-fought game the girls were victorious with a final score of 14-11.
By Thursday, July 3, the girls were on a roll, fired up and ready to win the Championship.
Unfortunately, the Seguin team had a completely different outcome in mind.
Seguin was up 16-0 in the first inning. The score reached 26-0 by the end of the fourth inning. Lockhart’s team was able walk three runs in during the last few minutes of the game ,for a final score of 26-3.
Congratulations to the Girls All Stars team for their hard work out on the field.
See you during Fall Ball.
