The Golden Age Home Assisted Living in Lockhart welcomed hundreds of residents, community members, and assisted living residents on September 10 for its annual Health Fair & Blood Drive 2025. The event brought together healthcare providers, service organizations, and volunteers in an atmosphere filled with fellowship and neighborly support.

The event, now in its 10th year under the leadership of Executive Director Nicole Burnett, has grown into one of Golden Age Home’s signature community events. Burnett, who has been with Golden Age for 18 years, says the mission has always been about more than just healthcare.

“The best way that we can be of service to the community was to acquaint the community and our residents with services,” Burnett said. “We all help where we can.”

Dozens of exhibitors set up informational booths ranging from preventative care and fitness to senior services and wellness resources. Residents had the opportunity to visit with healthcare professionals, gather information on local programs, and participate in health screenings, all while enjoying the sense of community the event fosters.

The blood drive, hosted in partnership with regional medical providers, also gave attendees the opportunity to donate blood, a gift that saves lives. Organizers noted that many residents and visitors eagerly lined up to participate, continuing Lockhart’s tradition of generosity.

Burnett expressed her gratitude to the many helping hands who made the event possible. A special thanks was extended to the students at The Pegasus School, who assisted by setting up tables, and to the students from the Gary Job Corps Center, who worked closely with exhibitors during setup and throughout the event.
